Snack Drive Supporting Food For Thought

The Grade 1’s are excited to share with you a wonderful opportunity for our students to put Catholic Social Teaching into action. We will be having a Snack Drive from March 2nd-March 27th to collect peanut-free non-perishable snacks. This project directly supports Food for Thought, an organization in High River that provides snacks to students in need, including those right here in our school.
As Catholics, we are called to live out the preferential option for the poor. This teaching emphasizes our responsibility to care for those who are most in need. By participating in this drive, our students will be helping to ensure that no child has to go hungry, and it offers them a chance to demonstrate the love and care that Christ calls us to share with others.
What We Are Doing:
We are collecting snack donations to support Food for Thought. These snacks will be used to create lunches and are then distributed to students who might not have enough to eat during the school day. We are encouraging students to bring in peanut-free snacks so that every child can safely enjoy them. It is okay if the snacks come in a pack as there are volunteers available to portion them.
Suggested Snack Items:
● Granola bars (without peanuts)
● Pretzels
● Fruit cups or applesauce cups
● Fruit Pouches
● Rice cakes
● Crackers (if they bring a box they will be portioned by volunteers)
● Bear Paw Cookies
● Goldfish crackers
● Pudding/Jello cups
● Cookies (if they bring a box they will be portioned by volunteers)
● Tuna and cracker packs
● Their favourite snack
We ask that you encourage your students to bring in snacks, if they are able, to help care for those in need and they can put them in the boxes in front of the library window.
Thank you for your support in teaching our students the importance of caring for others, particularly those who may be struggling. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many children.
Warm regards, Grade One Team
